Revival Tea Co., Spokane WA - Café Spotlight by Green Tea Sommelier

There is something magical about stepping into a tea shop where the aroma of freshly brewed blends instantly envelops you. Revival Tea Company offers precisely that experience and more.

Last Saturday, I visited Revival Tea Company's café for the first time. Nestled in the heart of Spokane, this quaint spot felt like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

I like the city of Spokane personally since I also love wine, and they have a lot of wineries around, too, so I try to stop by whenever I am in the neighborhood.

The location of Revival Tea Company’s charm lies not only in its peaceful ambiance but also in the care and thoughtfulness evident in every corner of the space. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by warm smiles that immediately made me feel at home.

The serene atmosphere was further enhanced by natural light streaming through large windows, creating a harmonious balance with the earthy tones of the decor. Every element—from the handcrafted wooden furniture to the meticulously organized shelves lined with colorful tea tins—spoke volumes about the love and attention that went into designing this space. It was clear that Revival Tea Company had crafted more than just a café; they had built a sanctuary for tea enthusiasts and those seeking a moment of tranquillity amidst the bustle of life.

A Cozy Connection

The visit felt more personal, thanks to Charlise from Revival. Charlise had shared some wonderful photos with me earlier, which captured the essence of their inviting space and beautifully arranged tea tins. When we met, she took the time to delve into the shop’s mission, emphasizing how Revival is more than just a tea company. It’s a community-focused space that skillfully merges tradition with innovation. Charlise shared stories of their seasonal tea blends and the creative process behind developing new flavors, which made me appreciate their dedication even more. Her passion for tea was absolutely infectious, and I found myself deeply inspired by her commitment to bringing people together through tea. It was clear that Revival’s values extend beyond beverages—they’re about connection and creativity.

This shift is part of their broader strategy to create a scalable production model for future growth. Revival also focuses on sustainability by reducing packaging costs and using biodegradable materials wherever possible.

Why Revival Stands Out

Revival stands out by seamlessly blending tradition and innovation. Experimental blends like lavender-infused oolong and spiced rooibos push boundaries while honoring the roots.

The staff's knowledge and enthusiasm were equally impressive. Every team member guided me through my tea journey with authenticity. This reflects Revival's values—fostering community, respecting tradition, and celebrating creativity.

The Art of Tea Pairing

One highlight was learning about tea pairing. Charlise shared that Revival frequently experiments with pairings to enhance flavors. For an example, their jasmine green tea pairs with citrus tart, the floral notes complementing the tangy dessert beautifully.

This isn't just about flavor; it's about a holistic sensory experience. As someone who loves exploring how beverages elevate meals, I found this particularly fascinating.

Wellness Through Tea

One of the café's lesser-known but impactful initiatives is their focus on wellness. Revival Tea Company has introduced a range of wellness teas crafted with ingredients known for their health benefits. Their turmeric ginger tea, for instance, is celebrated for its anti-inflammatory properties. Another favorite is their chamomile blend, renowned for its calming effects.

Charlise explained how the café aims to promote holistic well-being. These blends aren't just delicious—they are a gentle reminder to take care of ourselves amidst the busyness of life.

FAQs about Revival Tea Company in Spokane

What is Revival Tea Company in Spokane?

Revival Tea Company is a tea shop and café in downtown Spokane, Washington. Family-run, with a focus on whole-leaf teas — green, black, oolong, herbal blends — and a careful attention to atmosphere that makes the shop feel more like a quiet retreat than a typical café.

Spokane isn't usually the first city that comes to mind for tea, but the Pacific Northwest has quietly built up a real tea scene over the last decade or two. Revival is one of the better expressions of that — they've struck a balance between sourcing high-quality leaf and making the shop feel approachable to people who don't know much about tea yet.

What makes Revival Tea Company's atmosphere feel different from other cafés?

Honestly, it's the level of care in the small details. Handcrafted wooden furniture instead of mass-market café tables. Tea tins arranged on shelves like a curated collection rather than retail merchandise. Natural light from large windows pairing with warm earth-tone decor. A pace that's deliberately slower than coffee shops — you don't go to Revival for a quick caffeine fix, you go to settle in for an hour.

Charlise, who runs the floor, was telling me when I visited that they treat the space as a community room as much as a retail store. People come in, sit, talk, sometimes work, sometimes just sit quietly with a cup. The whole vibe is closer to a Japanese kissaten (喫茶店, traditional coffee/tea café) than a Starbucks.

What kinds of teas does Revival serve?

Revival carries a wide range — green teas (including Japanese sencha (煎茶)), black teas, oolongs, white teas, herbals, plus their own seasonal blends developed in-house. The seasonal blends are part of what's distinctive about Revival — Charlise and her team rotate through limited-edition combinations that match local Pacific Northwest seasons. Berry-forward blends in summer, warmer spice-tea blends in winter.

They also stock loose-leaf supplies like teapots, infusers, and teaware, in case you want to take part of the experience home with you. The staff is genuinely good at recommendations — if you describe what you usually drink, they'll point you to something adjacent that might surprise you.

Where else can I find tea cafés like Revival in the Pacific Northwest?

Quite a few, actually. The Pacific Northwest has one of the more underrated tea cultures in the U.S. In Portland (our hometown), there's Smith Teamaker, Steven Smith's flagship; the Tao of Tea in Hawthorne; and our partner shop Kiriko Made which carries a curated selection of our teas. In Seattle, the Tea Garden in the International District is worth a visit, as is Floating Leaves Tea in Greenwood. Vancouver BC has O5 Tea Bar.

If you're road-tripping the Pacific Coast, you can basically hit one or two solid tea shops per city from San Francisco up through Vancouver. It makes for a surprisingly tea-centric road trip if you plan it that way.

How do I visit Revival Tea Company?

Revival is in downtown Spokane, walkable from most of the central city. They're open most weekdays and weekends, though hours can vary seasonally — easiest to check their website or Instagram for current hours before driving over.

If you're coming from out of town and only have time for one Spokane stop, this is a worthwhile one. Plan to stay at least 45 minutes — Revival isn't a grab-and-go shop, and rushing through it kind of defeats the point. Order a tasting flight if you want to sample several at once, or just pick one tea and a small bite and settle in.
