  • I would like to try green tea. Which tea do you recommend?
World of Japanese Green Tea is very wide and wonderful, but it is sometimes confusing with all the terms used. For the reason, we have created a Glossary of Japanese Green Tea with a chart so that you can decide which one would be best for you. Please refer to Glossary of Japanese Green Tea for more information.

  • Does your green tea have tulsi in it?
No, but you are welcome to add tulsi in our high quality green tea. We understand that in India people put tulsi in green tea, but we wish to deliver the highest quality of Japanese Green Tea in the purest form possible. In Japan, tulsi is not being put in green tea, and Japan does not harvest tulsi in general; therefore we do not put tulsi, but please enjoy the tea by adding tulsi yourself if that is what you enjoy. In fact, we know that our fresh and high quality green tea does go very well with aroma and flavor of tulsi!

  • I've heard that Green Tea is good for health. Is it true?
Yes it is. Since Japanese Green Tea is processed less than other type of tea, the health effects are known to be greater than other types of tea. Please check our Japanese Green Tea and Health blog for all health related articles related to Japanese Green Tea.

  • What about Expiration Date?

  • What is the best water to use for Green Tea?
Green Tea is best prepared with soft water with less mineral. If you have water softener filter system, use the water filtered by softener. If you use bottled water, try avoiding ones with "Added Mineral" as it tends to break the tea flavor. If you have access to Evian, it would give better taste as Evian is known for soft water.

  • I am worried about radioactive material in products made in Japan.
Our tea is 100% safe from radioactive material. Here is a link to an official test result of radioactive material and it indicates that there are no radioactive elements found in our tea. (This is a link to brief English Translation of the Report.)  Please note that this test was conducted in 2012 which is one year after Fukushima accident in March of 2011. Even after 6 years from incident, we keep testing and ensuring that no any harmful materials are in our tea.

  • I'd like to know the different ways in which I can take green tea...is it good with honey, or should I just drink it plain...
In Japan, people usually consume green tea plain without adding sugar or honey.  However, in other countries such as in US and India, it is common to drink with honey which does go very well. We have compiled some green tea recipe such as Sparkling Tea with lemon and Fruit Tea.  Sign up to our newsletter to get the recipe for free. We also have an extensive article of how to make Japanese Green Tea Smoothie which might be of interest to you.

      Steeping Guide

      Steeping Guide - Hot

      1. Dissolve 2 teaspoon of powder into 8 Oz of hot water. We recommend about 175°F for most common green tea.

Please note that our product page has different recommended temperature based on type of tea between 175°F- 185°F; however, 175°F can be the most common and standard temperature that would work for any type of our green tea.

      2. Wait for 60-120 seconds  (Please follow steeping guide on the product for specific time based on type of tea.)

      3. Use mesh strainer to filter out the green tea leave and serve hot

      Steeping Guide - Cold

      1. Dissolve 3-4 teaspoon of powder into 30 Oz of cold water.  For best result, use filtered water, bottled water. Alternatively, you can boil water and let it cool down until room temperature.

      2. Keep in refrigerator for 3 hours or more. Key point is to use longer time to disolve. This way, sweetness increases, and it does not break down theanine and vitamine C.  For best result, let it sit for overnight.

      3. Stair the water first, then use mesh strainer to filter out the green tea leave and serve cold.
