If so today is your lucky day because we’ve found a teapot that can eliminate all the guesswork and frustration that comes from brewing tea and let you make whatever you fancy: the Breville BTM800XL One-Touch tea maker. The BTM800XL uses the best of today’s technology while honoring the time-honored tradition of tea brewing to help you make the perfect pot, or cup, of tea every time. Our in-depth review will show you just what makes this teapot so great and why it should be in every tea lover’s home.

The Breville BTM800XL: Brewing Tea in a Whole New Way

At first glance the Breville kettle looks just like any other, only prettier; but looks can be deceiving as this pot is anything but ordinary. Thanks to a revolutionary brewing system you can enjoy all different types of tea, from traditional black tea to green, oolong, or any other exotic flavor you like.

And the reason why is simple: it doesn’t just brew tea, but steeps it, for a faster infusing time that doesn’t skimp on taste. It also knows the times and temperatures for any tea you choose, so you get robust flavor every time you brew.

Let’s look at this device’s key features and benefits to better understand how it works:

Design

The clear and stainless-steel carafe sits on a stainless-steel base, for an elegant, modern look that looks at home in any kitchen. Made of quality German glass, it is durable and can withstand high temperatures, so it will last a long time and can take everyday use.

Inside is where the magic happens, with a metal, mesh basket at the top of the kettle that goes up and down to gently agitate the water and infuse it with flavor. Not only is it relaxing to watch the basket stir, but it is also the key to getting the right amount of flavor in every cup.

And speaking of cups, the carafe can hold up to five 8-ounce cups of tea, so you can make a cup for yourself or the whole family. Finally, the base has an easy-to use LCD display and buttons to choose and program whatever you need.

Steeping/Infusion

Variety of Blends

Most teapots can only brew select types of tea, as different varieties require different temperatures and brew tine in order to extract the right amount of flavor. After all, if the water is too hot or cold, a blend may be too weak or way too strong to enjoy as it was intended.

Those issues are eliminated by the Breville BTM800XL’s innovative system. It has 6 modes of brewing: White, Oolong, Green, Black, Herbal, and Custom. Each mode has precise brewing times and temperatures, so it always tastes like perfection.

Brewing temps are as follows: 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 Celsius) for herbal and black tea, 195 degrees Fahrenheit (90.6 C) for oolong, 185 degrees Fahrenheit (85 C) for white, and 175 degrees (79.4 C) for green. And with the custom setting you can adjust any of the set temperatures or put in your own if you have a special blend.

Precise Agitation and Steeping

This system is not the only reason why it brews such tasty tea; the mesh agitating basket is another big part of the equation. Once the water heats, which usually takes a minute or so, the basket lowers on its own and starts the process.  Unlike other teapots, when the Breville is done steeping the basket comes out of the water, so it won’t over-steep. Which means you can leave it to brew and come back when it’s done, giving you the freedom to do other things that you need.

Programming/Tea Time

The Breville is not magic; juts like other pots, it must warm the tea and steep it the correct amount of time. But because you don’t have to babysit it as it brews it feels like it takes a lot less time.  There is an automatic start button, so you just need to fill it and let it do its job and there is also a keep-warm setting, giving you up to an hour after you brew to enjoy a hot cup of tea.

Pros & Cons of the Breville Infusion

To help you decide if this teapot is the one for you, let’s go over the pros and cons of this device:

Pros

  • Can brew almost any variety of tea and has pre-set times and temperatures so you. don’t have to guess and eliminating the trial and error that comes with some blends.
  • One-touch operation is quick and effective, so you can fill it and let it brew on its own.
  • Precise agitation and the elimination of over-steeping lets you enjoy every cup.
  • Can be used to make multiple cups at one time.

Cons

  • Right now, the one drawback to this system is that they don’t sell a replacement for the carafe, so if you damage or break it you would need to buy a whole new system, which is not cheap.
  • The other con is that it is a bit expensive at around $199; however, if you drink tea regularly it more than pays for itself, especially when you consider all the varieties it can brew.

The Breville BTM800XL One-Touch tea maker has a lot to offer anyone who enjoys a good cup of tea. It streamlines the process and is precise in it’s brewing, so the last cup tastes just as good as the first. It is stylish, reliable, and unlike other products, does exactly what it promises to, which is why it’s on my must-have list and should be on yours too.
