Introducing Corporate Gifts: Japanese Tea, Coffee, Wine and Knives in One Order

Table of contents

Japanese corporate gift ideas from four brands: green tea gift set, Sumiyaki pour-over coffee gift box, Koshu wine set and a handmade Santoku knife

I am happy to introduce our new Corporate Gifts service.

If you have a list of people to thank, we can now put together Japanese gifts for every one of them.

Your team. Your clients. The partners who helped you this year.

And it doesn't have to be a company. If you send gifts to a long list of family and friends every year, that works too!

We Have Been Doing This Quietly

This is not completely new, actually.

Over the years, some of our wholesale customers asked us to put gifts together for them, and we did.

One of them still orders green tea bags with their own name printed on the label, a couple of times a year, for their guests.

But I never asked publicly.

So this is the first time we are offering it to everyone.

What made me finally do it was a simple question. Earlier this fall, someone asked us about corporate gifts, and we started looking at what other tea shops offer.

Most of them can sell you tea. Some can sell you tea and teaware.

None of them could put tea, coffee, wine and knives in one order.

We can, because we are a small family of Japanese brands.

One Order, Four Japanese Brands

This is the part I am most excited about.

One order can mix all of these:

You don't have to talk to four shops. Gwen handles all of it, and you get one quote and one invoice.

For a small thank-you under $50, our Ceremonial Matcha or a box of Sumiyaki Pour-Over Coffee bags is easy to send to a whole team.

For key clients, I would pick The Covered Trio Gift Set. Ceremonial Matcha, Gyokuro and Nozomi are all shade-grown teas, which is where the name comes from.

Someone new to Japanese tea? The Beginner Gift Set comes with a Tokoname kyusu (急須) teapot, so they can start brewing the same day.

And for a retirement, or for your most important partner, a handmade Santoku knife paired with tea or coffee is a gift they will use for years.

One note on wine. For now it can only ship to California and Washington, D.C., and someone 21 or older has to sign for it.

I also like tea and coffee as gifts for a simple reason. They get used up.

Nobody has to find a shelf for them, and nobody has to pretend to like a vase. (^^)

Small Touches That Make It Personal

A gift feels different when it carries your name.

From 10 gifts, we can print your message on a kraft card and tuck one into every box.

From 50 units, we can make custom-label green tea bags with your logo, a message or even a QR code on the label.

Custom-label Japanese green tea bags printed with a client's own name

Custom labels take a few extra weeks to prepare. If you have a date in mind, please tell Gwen early and she will confirm the timing before you order.

We can also ship each gift straight to each person on your list.

Send us the names and addresses (Gwen has a simple sheet for this), and we take it from there.

A Japanese Way of Saying Thank You

In Japan, companies send gifts to their clients twice a year.

Ochugen (お中元) goes out in summer. Oseibo (お歳暮) goes out at the end of the year.

Both mean more or less the same thing. Thank you for this year together, and please keep looking after us.

Tea has always been one of the most popular choices. I wrote more about the summer custom in my guide to ochugen.

You don't have to wait for the end of the year, though.

A welcome kit for a new hire, a work anniversary, a deal you just closed, speakers at your conference. Any of those is a good reason to say thank you.

How to Start with Gwen, Our Concierge

Gwen is the person who will take care of you.

She already looks after our wholesale customers, and she is a pro at it.

She listens first. Then she puts together options that fit your budget and your date.

After that, she keeps every brand in your order on track until each gift arrives, and she checks that you are happy with how it went.

Gwen, Concierge at Japanese Green Tea Co.

You can always copy me on the email too.

But to be honest, Gwen does this better than I do!

To start, tell her how many gifts you need, your budget per gift and when you need them. You can fill out the short form on our Corporate Gifts page, or email her at info@JapaneseGreenTeaIn.com.

She will come back with options and pricing. Once you approve, we pack and ship.

Request a Quote from Gwen

Our teas have won the Global Tea Championship four times, in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2025 (see our awards).

It would make me very happy to see them on your clients' desks.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for thinking of us when you want to thank someone.

Corporate Gifts announcement questions

Can I order gifts for family and friends, not a company?

Yes. The service is built for anyone with a list of people to thank, and "friends and family" is one of the choices on the request form. Gwen puts the gifts together the same way and can ship each one to its own address.

Can one order include tea, coffee, wine and knives?

Yes. Tea and matcha come from Japanese Green Tea Co., Sumiyaki coffee from Japanese Coffee Co., wine from Japanese Wine Co. and knives from Japanese Knife Co. Gwen coordinates all four, so there is one quote and one invoice. Wine can only go to California and Washington, D.C., and someone 21 or older has to sign for it.

How early should I order custom-label tea bags?

Earlier than a ready-made gift, by a few weeks. Each label is printed just for your order, and that printing is the slow part. Gwen checks your date against it before you pay anything. The smallest run is 50 units.

What is oseibo?

Oseibo (お歳暮) is the year-end gift Japanese companies send to clients and people who looked after them during the year. Its summer counterpart is ochugen (お中元). Consumables such as tea are the classic choice, because they get used up and leave nothing to display.
